One page at a time

Making good on my New Year's resolution, I finished The Historian this week. (A few sick days come in handy on the whole "time devoted to reading" thing.) It was a quick read and satisfying. I've always had a thing for novels that involve academic work, probably because I long for something to liven up dull things like research or, say, proofreading. I likewise loved Possession and The Archivist -- like The Historian, they involve stories that weave together the past and the present, usually with a little intrigue and romance. But not all of them involve vampires, alas. I highly recommend Kostova's work, and I encourage you to read it before they make good on their threat to make it into a movie.
