Down in the mission

Peace, man
We arrived in San Francisco last night, after a pretty smooth drive (well, California greeted us with snow in the mountains, which was kind of funny but not too disruptive). This morning, after the kids got to play in the pool for awhile, we headed out to see the sights, and we hit the Mission Dolores first. (I loved it the first time I saw it, so why not go back?) This time, I actually heard part of the tour, so I, like, learned and stuff. (This whole "learning" thing may have been influenced by the presence of the children.) Then, we headed off on a Jen-guided walking tour of the murals in the area. The Women's Building was the first and easiest to find. Then we saw Clarion Alley. There was one mural I particularly liked, but just as I was about to take a picture, a car had the nerve to park right in front of me. The hell? Then it was off on my "I kind of remember how to get to Balmy Alley and I have vague internet directions," so follow me. I took tons of pictures (of course), because I love murals. Also, because I love taking pictures. Two murals in Balmy Alley were the same since the first time I visited, so I took pictures for comparison (2001 and 2008; 2001 and 2008).

We made it back to the hotel in time to watch the Vols squeak by LSU to go to the title game on Tuesday. And I'm pretty sure the kids liked the whole "play in the pool/watch as much TV as you want while I scream at the game" part of the day best. Bygones.
