I finally finished Mansfield Park. Finally, finally. And I have to say, I didn't like it much more at the end than I did at the beginning. It's pretty preachy, and the heroine is pretty spineless -- the whole "I learned my moral compass from Edmund" crap gets fairly hard to take. Also, where did Austen's sense of humor go? And what's with the cheap wrap-up ending? "Oh, yeah, so he didn't really love her and came to realize Fanny's the one, ta-da! The end." Blargh. I'm really hoping Emma is much better than this or I will have to seriously revise my love of Austen. (Okay, so nothing will make me not love Pride & Prejudice. With or without Colin Firth/Matthew Macfadyen.)
Speaking of love and marriage, my photos from my sister's wedding are available for your perusal.
