I am not acting like anything, I am calmly reading

I won't lie, 2016 was kind of a rough year for me. Lots of good things, but also many stressful ones. This led to a lot of anti-anxiety reading, which for me means romance and mystery novels. During the move, I wasn't reading much at all, and I was pretty sure this would be my first year not hitting my reading challenge. But then I discovered Elizabeth Hoyt. And Tessa Dare. And Sharon Bolton's Lacey Flint series. And just like that, I read 78 books last year, making it five straight years of hitting my Goodreads goal.

For the first time, however, I won't be upping the ante on my reading challenge. Last year's mark was 65 books, and I'm keeping that for 2017. That's slightly more than a book a week, and that seems reasonable to me. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some reading to do.

I'd like to introduce to you ...I'd like to introduce officially to you ... the Fizz

The other thing keeping me busy has been the latest addition to our family, Fizz (also known as Mr. Fizz, Fizzywhig, Fizzes, pumpkin, pumpkin eater, puppyface, and baby). We got him when he was just an adorable ball of fluff, but he has quickly grown into a larger ball of fluff. He is adorable and loves to chew everything. He also loves the snow. Mainly to lick it.

What a year

Holy hell, how did it become 2017? I did not approve of these changes. On the other hand, I did not approve of much of what happened in 2016, so perhaps it's best to move forward.

As you may have surmised by now, the move consumed much of the year for me. House hunting? Not as much fun as they make it appear on TV. Moving, as we all know, sucks, but I love our new house and our new town, and it's been great settling back into the East Coast way of life (swearing more, generally being angry about everything, and regularly visiting Dunkin Donuts).

"Blog more" has become an annual resolution, and I've yet to follow through, but I'm hoping 2017 will be different.
