There are a few benefits to living on the West Coast. For instance, say you wanted to watch the end of the epic filibuster by Texas State Senator Wendy Davis, which was supposed to conclude around midnight CST -- that's only 10 p.m. here! And say you were anxiously awaiting the Supreme Court's decisions on Prop 8 and DOMA? The decisions were out before you got up -- no waiting!
Seriously, though, what a fucking morning, people. Although these victories were not sweeping or perfect (the Texas legislature will just bring this bill right back up and the Supreme Court left a lot of leeway for states), they were victories nonetheless, and important steps toward that ever elusive goal of a more perfect union. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go watch more clips of the raucous crowds in Texas and DC and try really, really hard not to tear up.
